Ripple Out Ltd
Code of Ethics
How we work. What we stand for. The promise behind every engagement.
Purpose
Ripple Out Ltd exists to help people live better lives — not in the abstract, but in practical, measurable, felt ways. The work is holistic. It moves across every area of life — purpose, money, relationships, energy, time — because no area exists in isolation.
This Code of Ethics sets out how that work is conducted. It is not a legal formality. It is a living document that reflects how Sam Tate and Ripple Out Ltd operate: with honesty, care, and a deep respect for the people who choose to work with us.
It applies to all coaching, facilitation, speaking, methodology delivery, and corporate work carried out under the Ripple Out Ltd and Sam Tate Coaching brands, including The Conscious Currency™.
This Code is grounded in a simple principle: when the work is done well and with integrity, the ripple effect extends far beyond the individual session. Our ethics are how we protect that.
Core Values
Everything Ripple Out does flows from five core values. These are not aspirational statements on a wall. They shape how every coaching relationship begins, unfolds, and ends.
We tell the truth — to clients, about what coaching can and cannot do, and about ourselves. We do not overclaim results. We do not use language designed to impress rather than inform. If we do not know something, we say so. If a client needs something we cannot provide, we say that too.
We meet people where they are, not where we think they should be. The work is human before it is professional. We carry our own lived experience — including the difficult parts — into our practice as a source of understanding, not authority.
Life does not divide neatly into categories, and neither does good coaching. We look at the whole picture. A question about money is often a question about worth. A question about work is often a question about identity. We follow what is actually there, not just what was asked.
We take responsibility for our conduct, our commitments, and our mistakes. We do not deflect. If something goes wrong, we address it directly. We maintain professional standards not because we are required to, but because they matter.
We work in a way that is accessible and respectful to all people, regardless of background, neurotype, identity, or experience. As a neurodivergent practitioner, Sam Tate brings lived understanding to neuroinclusive practice. We adapt our approach. We do not assume.
Our Commitments
These commitments apply to all professional activity carried out in the name of Ripple Out Ltd, Sam Tate Coaching, and The Conscious Currency™.
- —Conducting ourselves with integrity in every interaction — not only when it is easy, but particularly when it is not.
- —Maintaining the trust placed in us by clients, partner organisations, and collaborators.
- —Continuing our own professional and personal development, because the quality of the work depends on the quality of the practitioner.
- —Being transparent about our qualifications, the scope of our work, and the boundaries between coaching and other disciplines such as therapy, financial advice, or medical care.
- —Remaining curious, not certain — holding frameworks lightly and staying open to what each individual actually needs.
- —Raising ethical concerns when we encounter them, within our own practice and beyond.
- —Upholding the standards set out in this document across all work carried out using AI-assisted tools, digital platforms, and any support personnel.
Professional Standards
4.1 Agreements and Engagement
Before any coaching engagement begins, we establish clarity on both sides. This means:
We explain clearly what coaching is and — importantly — what it is not. Coaching is not therapy, financial advice, or any form of clinical treatment.
We agree in writing the nature of the engagement, including scope, duration, fees, cancellation terms, and confidentiality.
We respect the right of any client or organisation to end the relationship at any point, subject to the terms of the agreement.
Where we are working within a corporate or organisational context, we are transparent about any reporting lines or dual accountabilities and manage them openly.
4.2 Confidentiality
What clients share in the coaching room stays in the coaching room. Confidentiality is not a policy addendum — it is the foundation of the work.
We maintain strict confidentiality with all individuals and organisations we work with.
We agree in advance what information, if any, may be shared with a sponsoring organisation, and under what circumstances.
The only exceptions to confidentiality are: a legal requirement; a valid court order; or a credible risk of harm to the client or another person. These exceptions are explained to clients before the work begins.
We store and handle all client records — including notes, assessments, and electronic communications — securely, in compliance with UK data protection law.
We hold ourselves accountable for the data practices of any support personnel or technology platforms we use in our work.
4.3 Professional Conduct
We are transparent about when we are working as a coach and when we are working in a different capacity — for example, as a facilitator, speaker, or trainer.
We do not enter into any personal, romantic, or sexual relationship with a client or sponsor. If any shift occurs in the professional dynamic, we address it directly and, if necessary, end the engagement.
We identify and manage conflicts of interest openly. Where a conflict cannot be resolved, we refer on or withdraw from the engagement.
We are aware of our biases and work actively to prevent them from affecting the quality or equity of our practice.
We disclose any financial benefits received for referrals.
We respect intellectual property — our own and that of others. The Conscious Currency™ methodology and all associated materials are the intellectual property of Ripple Out Ltd.
4.4 Delivering Consistent Value
We pay attention to whether the work is still serving the client. If we sense it is not, we name it and explore what needs to change.
We recognise our own limitations. If personal circumstances affect our ability to work well, we seek support and, if necessary, pause or end engagements.
We do not create dependency. Our goal is for clients to leave the work more capable, more self-aware, and less reliant on external validation — including ours.
We acknowledge any difference in status or authority between coach and client, and actively work to keep the relationship equal and collaborative.
4.5 Integrity and Accountability
We represent our qualifications, experience, and the nature of our work accurately and honestly in all communications.
We do not make promises about outcomes. Coaching creates conditions for change. What clients do with that is theirs.
We hold ourselves to the standards in this document because they reflect what we believe good work looks like — not merely because we are obliged to.
If a client or partner organisation believes we have acted in breach of this Code, we will engage with that concern seriously, fairly, and without defensiveness.
The Pledge
This is the commitment Sam Tate and all those working under the Ripple Out Ltd umbrella make to every client and partner:
I will show up to this work with honesty and care. I will tell you what I genuinely believe, even when it is difficult. I will hold your confidence absolutely. I will refer you on when the work calls for something beyond my scope. I will not pretend to have answers I do not have. I will keep learning. I will take responsibility when I fall short. And I will always, above all, put your wellbeing and long-term growth ahead of any other consideration."
